Guides Open GigaJSON

Download a sample CSV file in the size you need, from 100 KB to 1 GB, to test an import, a spreadsheet or a data pipeline. Each file has a header row and one row per record of realistic data: orders, customers, products, blog posts, users or log events. Nested fields become columns such as customer.address.city.

How to use it

  1. Choose a size limit, or enter a custom limit. Whole records stay within that size.
  2. Choose the data. CSV is selected; JSON, JSON Lines and XML are there too.
  3. Download the .csv file, or open it in GigaJSON (up to 128 MB) to see it as a table.

Private, and made for big files

This tool runs in your browser, in a background worker: the file is made on your computer and never uploaded, and nothing is kept after you leave. Files up to 1 GB are written in pieces, so the page keeps responding. If your connection drops while you're here, the tool keeps working. When one tool isn't enough, GigaJSON opens your data with a tree, a table, JSONPath/JMESPath/jq queries, transforms, diff and history.

Questions

What does the CSV look like?

Comma-separated, with a header row, UTF-8 text and CRLF line breaks. Fields with commas, quotes or line breaks are quoted. Nested objects become dotted columns, and lists inside a row are written as JSON text.

Will Excel open it?

Yes, but Excel shows at most 1,048,576 rows. The page shows the row count, so you can see when a large file goes past that. Google Sheets has its own cell limit, so use small files there.

Is the file the same every time?

Yes. The same size and data always give the same file.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The file is made on your computer and saved from there.
