This is the full GigaJSON editor. Change keys and values in a tree, or switch to Code to edit the text with error checks. Undo goes back up to 200 steps, and History keeps restore points of each document. Documents are saved in this browser, on your device, and never uploaded. Files up to 1 GB open (choose 1 GB in Preferences; the default limit is 512 MB). To only look at a big file, the large JSON viewer is lighter. To fix broken JSON first, use JSON Repair.
How to edit JSON online
- Open a file, paste JSON or pick a sample with New document (+).
- Edit in the tree: double-click a key or value, or use the row buttons to add, duplicate and delete. Switch to Code to edit the text.
- Use Table, Query and Transform for changes across many records, then Export as JSON, YAML, CSV, XML or TypeScript.
Private, and made for big files
The editor runs in your browser, with documents handled in a background worker: nothing you paste or open is uploaded. Documents stay in this browser's storage on your device until you delete them. JSON and XML input can be up to 1 GB, depending on available memory. Processing runs in a background worker; large analyses can take a minute or more.
JSON editor questions
Is my JSON uploaded?
No. The editor runs in your browser. Documents are saved in this browser's storage on your device, so they are still there when you come back. Nothing is sent to a server.
How large a JSON file can I edit?
Up to 1 GB, depending on your computer's memory. The default limit is 512 MB; choose 1 GB in Preferences → Largest document. Documents over about 10 MB open in large-document mode: the tree and table stay fast, and the Code tab asks before loading the whole text.
Can I undo changes?
Yes. Each edit is one undo step, up to 200 steps (10 whole-document steps for large documents). History keeps restore points, such as the original file, that you can compare and restore.
Which formats can I open and export?
It opens JSON, JSON Lines, CSV, YAML and XML. It exports JSON (formatted, minified or with sorted keys), YAML, CSV, XML, TypeScript and JSON Schema.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. The same editor also opens full screen at gigajson.com/app/.
