Guides Open GigaJSON

Paste or open two JSON documents to see what changed between them, with added and removed lines side by side and line numbers. You can ignore key order, so objects whose keys were only reordered don't show up as changes.

How to use it

  1. Paste the original JSON on the left and the changed JSON on the right, or open files.
  2. The differences appear below, with a count of added and removed lines.
  3. Tick "Ignore key order" to compare the data instead of the text.

Private, and made for big files

This tool runs in your browser, in a background worker: nothing you paste or open is uploaded, and nothing is kept after you leave. Input can be up to 1 GB, but this operation needs its output to fit in the browser’s text limit. A smaller input may be required. If your connection drops while you're here, the tool keeps working. When one tool isn't enough, GigaJSON opens your data with a tree, a table, JSONPath/JMESPath/jq queries, transforms, diff and history.

Questions

What does "Ignore key order" do?

Both documents are compared with their object keys sorted, so {"a":1,"b":2} and {"b":2,"a":1} count as the same.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The tool runs in your browser, in a background worker. Nothing you paste or open goes to a server, and nothing is kept after you leave the page.

Can it compare large files?

Yes. Documents of tens of megabytes are compared in a background worker. The page shows the first 2,000 lines of differences.
