Sample JSON Files

Guides Open GigaJSON

Download a sample JSON file in the size you need, from 100 KB to 1 GB. Instead of one fixed file per size, each file is made for you from realistic data: orders, customers, products, blog posts, users or log events. Pick a size, pick the data, and the file is written in your browser, usually in a few seconds.

How to use it

  1. Choose a size limit, or enter a custom limit. Whole records stay within that size.
  2. Choose the data. JSON is selected; JSON Lines, CSV and XML are there too.
  3. Download the file, or open it in GigaJSON to look inside.

Private, and made for big files

This tool runs in your browser, in a background worker: the file is made on your computer and never uploaded, and nothing is kept after you leave. Files up to 1 GB are written in pieces, so the page keeps responding. If your connection drops while you're here, the tool keeps working. When one tool isn't enough, GigaJSON opens your data with a tree, a table, JSONPath/JMESPath/jq queries, transforms, diff and history.

Questions

What is in a sample JSON file?

One object with a list of records and a meta block: {"orders": [ … ], "meta": {"count": …}}. Records have nested objects, lists, numbers, booleans, nulls and ISO dates, so they exercise a parser the way real API data does.

Is the file the same every time?

Yes. The same size and data always give the same file, which helps when a test needs to be repeatable.

Which size should I use to test an upload limit?

Pick a size just over the limit, such as 11 MB for a 10 MB limit. Custom takes any size up to 1 GB, in KB, MB or GB.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The file is made on your computer and saved from there.
