Guides Open GigaJSON

Download a well-formed sample XML file in the size you need, from 100 KB to 1 GB, to test a parser, an XSLT, an import or an upload limit. Each file has one root element holding one element per record of realistic data: orders, customers, products, blog posts, users or log events, with nested elements and repeated lists.

How to use it

  1. Choose a size limit, or enter a custom limit. Whole records stay within that size.
  2. Choose the data. XML is selected; JSON, JSON Lines and CSV are there too.
  3. Download the .xml file, or open it in GigaJSON to browse it as JSON.

Private, and made for big files

This tool runs in your browser, in a background worker: the file is made on your computer and never uploaded, and nothing is kept after you leave. Files up to 1 GB are written in pieces, so the page keeps responding. If your connection drops while you're here, the tool keeps working. When one tool isn't enough, GigaJSON opens your data with a tree, a table, JSONPath/JMESPath/jq queries, transforms, diff and history.

Questions

What does the XML look like?

An XML declaration, then a root such as <orders> with one <order> element per record. Fields are child elements, and a list is the same element repeated (<items> once per item). It is the mapping GigaJSON uses when it opens XML as JSON, so the file opens back into the same data.

Is it well-formed?

Yes. Text is escaped and every element is closed. There is no DTD and no namespace, so any XML parser can read it.

Is the file the same every time?

Yes. The same size and data always give the same file.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The file is made on your computer and saved from there.
